Our Kindergarten Program is designed to nurture the heart, soul, and mind of our students, and includes lessons in Bible, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Whether you choose our half-day program or our full-day program, your child will receive the best academic training, solid spiritual values, and socialization skills.
The Language Arts Program at Hillcrest teaches basic reading skills using an intensive phonics approach. Students are taught to read with a systematic step by step reading plan based upon the sounds of each letter. This gives students a solid foundation for developing exceptional reading skills.
Kindergartners learn to count and recognize numbers up to 100. Addition concepts are taught through the sum of 10, and subtraction concepts are introduced as well. Students learn to tell time, work with money, and use basic measuring skills.
SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES
Our Kindergarten program includes science enrichment programs in six focal areas: the five senses, weather, seasons, plants, animals, and the seashore. Social Studies includes lessons in American History, Geography, and Community Service.
Both programs, half-day, and full-day prepare your child for a successful year in first grade!
Of course, the Bible is at the center of all we do, all we teach, and all that our students learn. Prayer, praise songs, Scripture memorization, and special recognition of Christian holidays are all central to the Kindergarten experience. Children are taught a love for God, His people, and His creation throughout the year.
Plus, field trips, the Christmas Program, Praise Walk, Spanish Instruction, and numerous other activities help to build the children’s experiences, faith, and knowledge throughout the year. The best start to every child’s educational career is a solid Kindergarten experience, and that means experiencing Kindergarten at Hillcrest Christian Academy!
